Help For Heroes pledges £3.5 million
Thanks to a major injection of funds from Help for Heroes, work is now underway to expand and modernise Tyrwhitt House, our treatment centre in Surrey.
The move will allow Combat Stress to accommodate the treatment of more Veterans, including carers, and to provide improved clinical and welfare working space. It comes at at a time of unprecedented demand for the charity's services – with new referrals up 66% across the UK since 2005.
In making the £3.5 million pledge to Combat Stress, Bryn Parry, the Chief Executive of Help for Heroes, said:
"We are delighted to be able to support such a uniquely relevant organisation. Combat Stress takes care of the nation's forgotten heroes: those Veterans whose wounds are not obvious and who suffer terribly in silence, often for years without seeking help. Our gift is worth every penny to them."
