What we do
Combat Stress 24-Hour Helpline
In March 2011 Combat Stress launched the Combat Stress 24-hour Helpline for the whole military community and their families.
If you’re currently serving, or have served in the UK armed forces, you can use the Helpline. If you are a family member or carer worried about a loved one, or if you are suffering yourself... you can use it too.
If you or your loved one have trouble sleeping, get flashbacks, feel depressed, get anxious sometimes, or just feel that something’s not quite right... please get in touch.
Don’t suffer in silence – talk to the Helpline on
0800 138 1619 or text 07537 404 719 (standard charges may apply for texts).
How the Helpline works
The Helpline staff understand the issues affecting the military community. When you call, our staff can talk through any questions, worries or problems that you may have. They will then find out which agencies or organisations can best help you. For example, it might be the local authority or Citizen's Advice Bureau (if your call is about a housing problem), it might be Relate (if the caller has relationship problems), or it may be Combat Stress.
The Helpline is delivered by the mental health charity Rethink Mental Illness and is funded by the Department of Health.
Rethink Mental Illness provides local groups and services, and information and advice to anyone affected by mental illness. Visit the Rethink Mental Illness website to find out more.
