Support us
We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to ALL our volunteers for their fundraising efforts on behalf of Combat Stress. Sadly, we can acknowledge but a few on this webpage. Among the many deserving recognition are:
Mount Vesuvius 10k - November 2011
A huge thank you to Mike Thompson and Richard Gobey for completing the Mount Vesuvius 10k, an active volcano run at a 3100ft vertical gain! They completed this challenge in a fantastic 1hr and 14 minutes. Mike and Richard also managed to raise a total of £682.50!
3 Volcanoes Challenge - October 2011
Emma Clink took on the might of 3 of Italy's Volcanoes, scaling Mount Etna, Stomboli and Vulcano in the space of 3 days. Battling the elements and facing eruptions, a torrid journey over water and terrifying sprint down the side of Stromboli to escape a lightning storm, Emma still managed to complete her challenge and raise a total of £1,915.00.
Royal Parks Half Marathon - October 2011
This year the Royal Parks Half was a flood with Combat Stress vests as 40 runners took part. The weather held out and 5 of us from the Fundraising department went down to cheer and wave our fundraisers on as they pounded the streets. We would like to thank everyone that took part and helped to raise over £12,500 so far.
73 Armoured Engineer Squadron, Coast-to-Coast - Novmeber
Over 80 members of the Squadron, led by Sgt Kyle Graham trekked from St Bees Cumbria to Robin Hoods Bay, Yorkshire in a non-stop relay. This was a wonderful effort by all, walking 197 miles, day and night, for 4 days straight and have so far raised over £7,500.00. The walk was in memory of Section Commander Paul Harris, who sadly ended his own life in May 2011 after returning home from Afghanistan.
Hampstead Garden Suburb Winter Fair - November
For the third year, Ruth Smith, Pamela Marenbach and a team of volunteers held the annual winter fair in the suburb and this year raised a terrific £1,686. Martin Bell did a star turn and opened the event.
