Fundraising
We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to ALL our volunteers for their fundraising efforts on behalf of Combat Stress. Sadly, we can acknowledge but a few on this webpage. Among the many deserving recognition are:
Chara Challenge
In this year's Chara Challenge we had an impressive 12 individuals participating which is excellent. This 30 mile endurance race across Dartmoor involved carrying 32lbs in a daysack! So we thank all twelve of our runners for all their hard work and fundraising efforts. In total over £8000 has been raised which is great.

Charlie Weller, Leicester De Montford Round Table - May 2010
Earlier this year Charlie Weller and 3 friends from the Leicester De Montford Round Table drove 290 miles, taking part in the Barcelona Bangers rally. Charlie's Toyota Carina took him from Leicester to Calais, to Lyon, then to Nice, through the Pyrenees and ending in Barcelona. The guys spent 24/7 together in a confined space for 10 days in total, and thanks to their efforts raised £3,500 to be split between Mind, Parkinson, Barnardos and Combat Stress. Thanks to Charlie for supporting Combat Stress, a massive well done to you and all the guys who took part.
British London 10K - 11th July
A big thank you to all of our 96 runners who completed the 6 mile course on behalf of Combat Stress. It was a fantastic day and it was great to meet so many runners at the picnic afterwards. Sponsorship is still rolling in and we wish to thank everyone for all their training, running and fundraising.
Waltham St Lawrence Annual Shoeing Competion - 5th June 2010
Haitze & Helen organised another fantastic shoeing competion this year, running alongside The Bell Inn's annual Beer Festival. Residents of Waltham St Lawrence and the surrounding area went along to enjoy the festivities and watch the Farriers (some being Ex-services themselves) compete. At the end of a very sunny day a wonderful £2,415 was raised. A huge thanks to Helen & Haitze for all their support, the local businesses for paying for their stands, KBIS for their sponsorship and thanks to all the public for making the day such a success.
Marathon Des Sables 2010
In April this year Geoffrey Stanford competed in the Marathon Des Sables in the Southern Morroccan desert. The run is a 150 mile Ultra-Marathon with the longest single stage sitting at a staggering 55 miles in length! Runners have to carry enough food and equipment they need for the entire event. So a big congratulations to Geoffrey who chose to run on behalf of Combat Stress. Geoffrey has raised approximately £7000 in sponsorship so thank you for all your hard work and fundraising efforts.
