Fundraising
Combat Stress has a huge financial challenge ahead.
Ongoing operations across the Middle East are stretching the resources available to us. Already we have seen almost 300 referrals from Iraq and Afghanistan. And we predict that these initial cases are just the tip of the iceberg, as on average Veterans wait more than 14 years before seeking our help.
Therefore we expect the coming years to be especially demanding. It is only with the continued support of people like you that we can achieve our objectives to care for Veterans who have been profoundly traumatised on active duty.
Our services are free to Veterans but provision comes at a considerable cost: last year we spent in the region of £8 million, of which £3.9 million was provided by the Veterans Agency (MoD). The rest we had to raise through charitable donations and grants. This year our operating costs are expected to reach £10 million – because of increased demand.
There are many ways in which you can support Combat Stress in providing specialist care for our Veterans.
Here are a few examples of what a donation from you will fund:
- £30 pays for a session of trauma-focused therapy.
- £130 pays for a consultation with a psychiatrist.
- £293 pays for a full day's care at a Combat Stress residential treatment centre.
