Head of Psychological Therapies

Salary: Negotiable

Full time, 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday

Working from our Tyrwhitt House treatment centre in Leatherhead, Surrey

Combat Stress is the UK's leading military charity delivering dedicated treatment and support to Ex-Service men and women with conditions such as PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), depression and anxiety disorders. Since 2005, we have seen a 72% increase in demand for our specialist services caring for Veterans' mental health. As our Head of Psychological Therapies, you will implement new treatment programmes including national specialist commissioned services and provide clinical leadership across all pour treatment centres.

We have recently been awarded National Specialist Commissioning and have been identified as a provider of a co-morbid PTSD intensive treatment programme for veterans. It will be the first scheme of its kind in the UK and this is your opportunity to help launch what could become a national flagship programme.

Working with the Medical Director and Director of Operations, you will:

  • Lead the development and management of the change programme
  • Establish a system of effective outcome measurement across all clinical services both in-patient and community based
  • Lead, supervise and develop professional psychologists and other therapy providing staff
  • Retain a select direct clinical assessment and treatment workload

You must have:

  • An honours degree in Psychology
  • Post Graduate Doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology or equivalent accredited by the BPS
  • Eligibility for BPS Chartered status
  • Experience at senior level supervising multidiscipline teams of psychologists  and trauma therapists
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment across the full range of patient groups and care settings
  • Particular experience of psychological trauma and its associated mental health issues
  • The resilience to maintain perspective and professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems.
