What we provide

Combat Stress provides a dedicated, trauma-focused service for Veterans whose condition is often complex, chronic and long term.  This service is not routinely available in the NHS or elsewhere.

Many Veterans leave the Forces with a severe psychological wound such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  One of the symptoms of PTSD is the frequent tendency to recall life-threatening incidents, which can lead to day and night terrors, mood swings, panic attacks and phobias.

Combat Stress offers specialist clinical treatment at three short-stay residential centres in Shropshire, Surrey and Ayrshire.

These centres provide a range of evidence-based therapies within a unique, peer-group setting.

We also offer a community outreach service, delivered by teams of Mental Health Practitioners, Community Psychiatric Nurses, and Regional Welfare Officers.

Our Regional Welfare Officers are usually the first contact the Veteran has with Combat Stress.  They are all ex-Service personnel themselves and can therefore easily relate to the problems encountered by the Veteran.  Read more about the work of one of our Welfare Officers.
