Creator of the McCoo, Steven Brown, to open Combat Stress summer fete
Internationally renowned Scottish artist and creator of the McCoo, Steven Brown, will be opening the Combat Stress Hollybush House treatment centre fete on Saturday 10 June 2017 at 12:00pm.
Combat Stress is the UK’s leading mental health charity for veterans, providing free specialist clinical treatment and support to former servicemen and women.
Last month Steven met with veterans receiving support at Hollybush House, the charity’s treatment centre in Ayrshire to discuss art therapy and how art has helped him with his wellbeing.
Art therapy plays an important role in the residential treatment programmes on offer at Combat Stress’ treatment centres. Some veterans can find it hard to talk about their experiences so art therapy gives them another way to express their emotions.
The Hollybush House fete is open from 12:00pm to 3:00pm and offers the unique opportunity to visit the treatment centre and grounds to learn more about its place in the Ayrshire community. Entertainment will include live music performed by several local artists, bush craft skills provided by representatives from Dumfries House Activity Centre and a raffle presented by Steven Brown. The Ayrshire Hillbillies bikers will also be riding in from Wellington Square for the afternoon.
There is a £2.50 entry fee which includes a free cream tea.
The address for the fete is Hollybush House, Ayr, KA6 7EA
