Royal Armouries to commemorate First World War centenary with fundraising concert

The Royal Armouries will commemorate the centenary of the final 100 days of the First World War with a gala in aid of military charities.

All proceeds from 100 Days to Peace, an evening of music and reflection, will go to Combat Stress, Heads Together and Help for Heroes. The Royal Armouries is committed to supporting former servicemen and women with mental health issues including anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.

The highlight of the evening will see Sir Karl Jenkins conduct his internationally-acclaimed The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, performed by the Royal Choral Society and the Philharmonia Orchestra. Sir Karl will be joined on stage by British mezzo-soprano, Kathryn Rudge, who will perform a solo against a backdrop of Hefin Owen’s film of The Armed Man.

The event will also bring together Samuel Bordoli’s The Great Silence, written in memory of choristers killed in the First World War, with the charity Remembered, featuring their 2018 Armistice installation There But Not There

The gala will be held on 6 September at Central Hall Westminster, London.
