On 20 September 2017 Dr Atul Pathak, the President of the Punjabi Society of the British Isles, and Dr Rami Ranger, former President and Patron of the Society, presented General Sir Peter Wall, President of Combat Stress, with a cheque for £10,000. The money was raised through the PSBI Annual Dinner at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.

The Society’s Annual Dinner, held on 20 April 2017, was attended by 450 distinguished guests including Rt. Hon. Sajid Javid PC MP, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Mr Richard Harrington MP, Member of Parliament for Watford and Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Pensions; Mr Virendra Sharma MP, Member of Parliament for Ealing-Southall and Lt. General Andrew Graham CB CBE, Chairman of Combat Stress.

Sir Peter said:

“We are honoured that The Punjabi Society of The British Isles hosted their Annual Dinner in aid of Combat Stress and we are grateful to the Society for raising such a generous amount.

“It is vital that Combat Stress raises awareness and funds for the charity to ensure we can continue to support every veteran that needs our help. We would like to thank The Punjabi Society of The British Isles for choosing to support Combat Stress and veterans with mental health problems.”

Dr Atul Pathak said:

“On behalf of the Punjabi Society of The British Isles, it gives me immense pleasure to present a cheque for £10,000 to Combat Stress.

“The people of Punjab have a special bond with our illustrious armed forces going back 160 years and, as a result, I am a very passionate and avid supporter of our forces who make the supreme sacrifice for our safety, values and freedom.

“I am glad that the Punjabi Society has chosen to support Combat Stress through our Annual Dinner. It is only right that we help our veterans in their time of need as they do in ours”.
